![]() The gameplay in Hell Let Loose stands out from the crowd by allowing the flow of the fight to change with an offensive thrust in a different direction. The games are goal-based and see the United States and Germany battling for control of vast areas. With no crosshairs, enemy aiming – apart from a player ping system – limited health, lifelike weapon recoil, and authentically awkward movements, your warpath will be a slow one. With the simulation in mind, now is a good time to mention that the game offers a much slower gaming experience compared to other titles in the genre. Much like Insurgency: Sandstorm, which I wrote about last week, Hell Let Loose has a heavy focus on simulation versus arcade gameplay – which the Black Matter team implemented perfectly. ![]() It’s not a hardcore simulation, however, as a few strange bullets in the body can be healed with bandages or leave you in a dejected state that allows you to be resuscitated by your teammates. Landed under the tracks of a tank? Yes, you guessed it … dead! It’s simulation at its finest, and if you can step on board with the fact that you won’t be storming the battlefield like a bullet sponge, a deep war experience awaits. You are blown up in some way: dead again. There are no arcade elements in Hell Let Loose. Before we dive too deep into this stunning example of a WWII inspired game, let’s get one thing straight.
